Bus Hire FAQ

Heritage Bus Hire

Frequently Asked Questions

1) How Much does it cost?

The cost of hiring a bus depends on several factors, including total distance travelled from our base and the number of hours required.

The minimum standard hire charge covering up to 4 hours (i.e. from pick up to final set down) is from £350 in Rotherham, £400 in Sheffield & Doncaster and £500 in the Peak District & Chesterfield for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday hire. A small discount is offered if you are ordering more than one bus at the same time.

A deposit of 50% per bus is payable at the time of booking with the final payment being due one month before hire is due, unless the hire is imminent.

2) Where do you operate?

Our operating are covers the whole of South Yorkshire, Chesterfield and the Peak District. We regret that we are unable to operate beyond these areas.

3) How many passengers can be carried?

Although one of our buses has 69 seats we have a maximum capacity of 55 passengers per bus, this makes allowance for our bus with the lowest seating capacity and ensures that space would be available for items of luggage and folded pushchairs to be carried.

4) Do you do late hires?

We do not undertake hires after 7pm.

5) Can we decorate the bus with ribbons?

Usually when you hire a bus for a wedding we will do all this for you to your requirements as standard, if you want to trim the bus yourself we will arrange for the bus to arrive at the pickup point early for you to put your decorations on yourself.

6) Can we have a personalised destination blind?

Sorry but we do not do personalised blinds, on one of our buses that we can put wedding special on the front blind and other buses just have special on front blind.

7) Can we have a conductor?

All hires include a driver and a conductor; it is the conductor’s responsibility to ensure the safety of passengers. Nobody other than the conductor is allowed to ring the bell as this could cause an accident if the bus were to move off while passengers are still boarding and also can cause confusion to the driver when the vehicle is in motion.

8) How fast are the buses?

On the open road our buses will cruise at a maximum of around 35-40mph, we work out the route timings at an average speed of 20mph.

9) Can the buses carry pushchairs and wheelchairs?

Folded pushchairs can be carried although limited space means that a maximum of two can be stowed safely under the stairs.

Due to their age the buses are not wheelchair accessible though wheelchair users are more than welcome provided there is assistance available to help them on and off the bus. During the journey passengers are not allowed to sit in a wheelchair on the bus and it must be stowed under the stairs.

10) What events and occasions do you not cover?

Regretfully the following are not covered, football matches, hen & stag parties, pub crawls and hires that finish after 7pm.

11) Can we drink alcohol on the bus?

Sorry but alcohol is not allowed on the bus due to legal requirements.
